FREELANCER MODS

Frontier Space is
a modification for the game Freelancer. It has been a long term project of mine
for the past 24 months. It began as a learning experience, going through the
tutorials of the excellent Lancers Reactor fan-site. It has grown more and more
and has finally being released in its version 1.0. Its hard to list the amount
of changes that has been made. It is massive, even for myself where i know all of
the best locations and secrets in the game, it would still take me months to
complete. If it is actually possible to be truly completed. Suffice to say there
are dozens of new factions, 134 systems, a hidden quest, capital ships
throughout, transport and capital ship flyable, a second cargo pod economy for
the heavier transports, long range destination specific cargo and long range
destroy missions that will tax anybody. There is also a xml start up interface
that allows players to choose the multiplayer new player spawn base, starting
ship and money. Also, there is the Open single player interface that allows the
game to be played as single player again with choices of starting location,
ship/loadout and money. |

Broken Oath was a
smaller mod created while I was taking a break from Frontier Space. It was
created in around a week and is designed as a server side mod. With the idea
being that players who do not have the mod can join a server running it and
still enjoy almost all of the features. It is also much harder than the original
game. The regions; Kusari, Liberty and Bretonia were set as being of a much
lower difficulty level for the original game as part of the single player story.
As this mod is not designed for the story, I was able to increase the difficulty
throughout and bring Kusari and Bretonia up to Rheinland difficulty levels.
Liberty is still the lowest of all as that is where the player normally begins
from, but it has still been increased. Even in the lowest difficulty level in
the game (New York), the player can still find themselves up against a
formidable line up of multiple overlapping abilities and increased computer A.
I. There is also capital sized ships throughout the house systems, factions have
gained extra ships and the house militaries use the higher level Falcon and
Eagle classed ships. There's quite a few nice touches that players could notice. |
